MIMO Test solution

MTS Systemtechnik has developed the MIMO Tester as an optimal platform for simulating MIMO scenarios in the lab. This device is suitable both for emulating antenna diversity and for beamforming and can be used for HSPA+, LTE, or WLAN tests. The channel matrix can be emulated by attenuators and delay lines, each of which can be digitally adjusted.

Chaos at the RF patch field? – It doesn’t have to be!

MTS Systemtechnik offers switching matrix systems that are ideally suited for the RF networking of test stations for tests in the fields of mobile radio, IoT, Bluetooth, WLAN and government radio. By using new types of semiconductor switches (HLS), we are able to offer automatic RF patch panels at low cost.

Standard coupling field – Flexible handover emulator

Our flexible handover emulators can be used to attenuate two or three pairs of signals and to cobinate each to one output signal. In addition, the devices are equipped with level detectors and handover controls.

Special applications of the relay switching unit KRE-4000

Our KRE-4000 series relay switching units are mainly used for the automation of EMC tests. They control the switching between the individual power amplifiers to enable a broadband measurement according to test standard without manual switching. The selection of the relays is done individually according to the customer’s requirements (frequency range up to 50 GHz possible). However, the application of the switch panels from MTS Systemtechnik is not limited to this relatively simple case. By means of examples the flexible application of this powerful device concept will be shown.

MSBU-3CA-HI, Highly isolating Shielding Box Unit

Another example of our numerous customized shielding boxes is the model MSBU-3CA-HI, which was developed with 19 inch x 3 HU for cabinet installation. The highly isolating RF shielding chamber is opened from the front side by means of quick-release screws and offers space for mobile devices (in 3 cabinets).

The EMC shielding housing is designed for the frequency range from 500 MHz to 6000 MHz and shields electromagnetic interference from the environment.

MSB-0053, Shielding Box 19 Inch x 12 HU

Another example of our numerous customised shielding boxes is the model MSB-0053 with 19 inch x 12 HU, which has been developed for the rack mounting. The compact portable EMC shielded chamber is opened from the front side by the easy one-hand mechanism and offers plenty of space for specimens of all kinds.

This rack is designed for the frequency range from 500 MHz to 4500 MHz and shields electromagnetic disturbances from the environment. Besides many standard interfaces the 19 inch shielding box has fiber optic connections and one door interlock in addition.

3 dB Hybrid Coupler 180° RK3-180-544P

The 3-dB hybrid couplers (180°) of this series are designed for operation in the frequency ranges of 1000 MHz – 1500 MHz, 1500 MHz – 2150 MHz and 2150 MHz – 3000 MHz.
They provide two equal amplitude in-phase signals when fed from its sum port (Σ) and two equal amplitude 180° out-of-phase signals when fed from its difference port (Δ).
The multisection stripline design exhibits very good flatness and VSWR at all ports.

Air Interface Adapter AIAD-8/8-4G+DL

The Air Interface Adapter series AIAD is our most flexible solution for air interface emulation. With the AIAD it is possible to emulate the in- and outputs according to the demands of the customer. The design of the shown unit allows program controlled attenuation and delay of 8 input to 8 output signals at the same time. The function is carried out by dividers, attenuators and delay lines.

With the MTS AIAD you can emulate air interfaces for all imaginable scenarios. To avoid the influence from the live-net, the signals can be connected with cables directly from the different signal sources, as for example GSM, UMTS or LTE base stations or signal generators etc. over the MTS AIAD to mobile devices.

Programmable Delay Line DL1-544-1600ps

The DL1-544-1600ps from MTS Systemtechnik is designed for operations between 500 MHz and 4000 MHz. The delay of this unit is adjustable, continuously and without breaks from 0 to 1600 ps in 5 / 10 ps steps. The interchangeable in- and output ports are protected by internal blocking capacitors.

This delay line can be used very flexible because of its compact design and the controlling via TTL interface (8 bit parallel).

MSB-0403, Shielding Box for IoT

With our shielding box MSB-0402 test specimens, e.g. IoT water meters, can be tested without electromagnetic interference from the environment.

Smart metering water meters, for example, can be connected to the built-in brass tubes on the right and left of the side walls.

The shielding box is designed for the frequency range from 500 MHz to 6000 MHz and, in addition to many different standard interfaces, also has a LAN interface and is lined with absorbers.

Hybrid Coupler Unit RKE-4×3-588P-6G for TETRA, GSM, DECT, UMTS, Bluetooth, WiMAX, Wi-Fi and LTE

The RKE-Yx3-5xxP-6G series 3 dB hybrid coupler unit was developed for the frequency range from 380 MHz to 6000 MHz. These coaxial hybrid couplers are therefore ideally suited for common mobile radio standards such as GSM, UMTS and LTE as well as Bluetooth, DECT and WLAN. Due to the lower frequency range, this hybrid coupler unit can also be used for the TETRA range.

Due to the broadband stripline design, very good specifications are achieved at all connections.

The hybrid couplers are mounted in an RF-tight housing and are available with SMA or N sockets.

MX-20/4-HLS-FFO-6G, Passive Full Fan-Out Switch Matrix

The MX-20/4-HLS-FFO-6G from MTS Systemtechnik GmbH is a passive full fan-out switch matrix which allows any of the 20 inputs to be routed to any or all outputs (4 Output).

The operating frequency range of the switch covers 500 Mhz to 6000 Mhz. It is perfect for use in LTE and 5G test applications.

It automates test labs by replacing cumbersome patch panels and can be controlled easily via RS-232, LAN or a web control (on request) interface.

MSBU-3CA-4HU-1DOOR, Shielding Box Unit 19″-rack mounted, with 3 cabinets

MTS Systemtechnik GmbH has developed a compact EMC screened rack mount chassis, to fulfil multipurpose requirements. The stable construction of the Shielding Box Unit series MSBU is predestined for industrial long term tests. To offer a maximum of flexibility and usability the Shielding Box Unit is built with three independent shielding cabinets, each with RF- and communication interfaces.

Therefore it is possible to use the unit for different tests or by different users at the same time.

The operation of the test samples can be done by using the included communication interfaces independently for each chamber.

AIAD-8+-6G-190dB, Air Interface Adapter

With the AIAD-8+-6G-190dB Air Interface Adapter, tests can be performed in the range from 500 MHz to 6000 MHz. Ring system with 8 coupled inputs and outputs by 190 dB attenuators and 2 source connections per port (2x 8 ports). The core of the AIAD-8+ consists of a fully meshed network. This allows connections from RF ports to all other RF ports via separate signal paths. Programmable attenuators in each path emulate the signal attenuation to any neighboring cells.

Modern radio technologies such as IoT, TETRA, Smart Metering, MIMO, Car to Car, Military Communication and many more require ever new test solutions. Not so much the frequency range, but the classical structure in mobile communication from the sender side to the receiver side has been abolished. Modern communication takes place not only vertically, but also horizontally. This enables a direct connection between different terminals without a network infrastructure. Thus applications, products or terminal devices of this type partly generate their own networks, expand the network or forward information from neighboring network subscribers.

RK3 Hybrid Coupler for TETRA, LTE and Wi-Fi

The 3 dB hybrid coupler of the RK3-5xxP-6G-S1 series was developed for the frequency range from 380 MHz to 6000 MHz. This coaxial hybrid coupler is therefore ideally suited for common mobile radio standards such as GSM, UMTS and LTE as well as Bluetooth, DECT and WLAN. Due to the lower frequency range, this hybrid coupler can also be used for the TETRA range.

Due to the multi-section stripline design very good specifications will be achieved at all ports.

The Hybrid Couplers have a RF-tight housing and are available with SMA or N connectors.

SCF-0600-6G, Standard Coupling Unit

The Standard Coupling Unit SCF-0600-6G is available in the frequency range from 700 MHz up to 6000 MHz.

It emulates the air interface between GSM/UMTS/LTE or Wi-Fi mobile devices and the belonging base stations (Nodes). According to this the handover can be tested between the base stations in the laboratory.

The emulation test system has connections for 2x 6 inputs (Nodes) and 2x 5 outputs (OUT Nodes) as well as 2x 3 additional hybrid couplers. The attenuation of each attenuator is adjustable from 0 dB up to 95 dB in 1 dB steps.

PAH-6G/95-TTL, Programmable Attenuator

The PAH-6G/95-TTL programmable attenuator was developed for use in the frequency range between 50 MHz and 6000 MHz and can therefore be used for all common mobile radio frequencies such as GSM, DECT, UMTS, Bluetooth, Wi-Fi and all LTE frequency bands up to 6 GHz. It can be used in satellite communication as well as in broadcasting from FM.

Due to the uninterrupted adjustment, the possibility to change the attenuation in 0.25 / 0.5 dB steps and the input power of +34 dBm, the digital attenuator is suitable for almost any test scenario.

Integrated DC protection measures make external components in the signal path obsolete. A compact housing made of milled aluminum makes the bidirectional attenuator an ideal solution where space is limited.

AIAD-16×1/3-LAN-4G, Air Interface Adapter

With the Air Interface Adapter AIAD-16×1/3-LAN-4G tests in the frequency range from 400 MHz to 4000 MHz are possible. Due to the internal setup consisting of attenuators and power splitters 16 inputs and 48 outputs are implemented. The unit can be remote controlled via Ethernet or RS-232. An optional upgrade to 6 GHz is available. An optional upgrade to 0.5 / 0.25 dB-steps is available.

AIAD-2-2+, Air interface Adapter

The Air Interface Adapter of type AIAD-2-2+ is designed for operation in the frequency range from 30 MHz to 3000 MHz. The internal setup of the device is carried out as a ring system with 2 inputs and 2 outputs with additional monitor ports for every path. Remote controlling of the unit is achieved by Ethernet or RS-232 interface.

MSB-0602, Shielding Box for Climatic Chambers

With our shielding box MSB-0602 specimens can be tested without electromagnetic disturbances from the environment in temperature-/climatic chambers.

A built-in 230 V fan, shielded with a honeycomb vent, transports the temperature of the chamber reliably in the EMC box. For better air circulation, this EMC box is provided with two further shielded vent panels (honeycomb vents).

The RF shielded housing is designed for the frequency range from 500 MHz to 6000 MHz and is additionally equipped with 2x XLR connectors and 6x M5 feed throughs for pneumatic applications besides many standard interfaces.

MSB-0100, Shielding Box for Ergonomic Working

The shielding box MSB-0100 allows the user to work ergonomically in a sitting position. This EMC box shields electromagnetic disturbances from the environment and is suitable for frequencies between 500 MHz and 4000 MHz (GSM / UMTS / LTE / DECT / ZigBee / Bluetooth / WLAN etc.).

Furthermore the RF shielded box is equipped with different interfaces and a universal mobile phone attachment. The delivery package of this movable EMC screened room contains one closed cover and one cover with built-in flexible wire mesh. MSB-0044, Shielding Box 19 Inch x 6 HU

Our EMC shielding box MSB-044 is specially designed for the 19 inch rack mounting and is opened from the front side.  The stable construction of the movable EMC screened room is predestined for high test appearance due to the easy, single-handed open-close function.

This EMC box shields electromagnetic disturbances from the environment and is suitable for frequencies between 500 MHz and 4500 MHz. Besides many standard interfaces, the 6 HU shielding box has an additional LAN interface.

RS6 Resistive Powerdivider / Combiner

The power splitters of type RS had been developed for the frequency range from DC – 3000 MHz and covers thereforethe most important mobile communication standards as GSM, DECT, UMTS, Bluetooth und LTE. FSW Series, bias tees

The operating power of active components, e.g. amplifiers, will be supplied through the coaxial cable using the DC coupling module. The RF signal will be blocked. The coaxial bias tees FSW-series work for the frequency range from 50 MHz to 2 GHz and will be delivered with different connectors as standard.

These passive bias tees have a supply voltage of 12 V / 200 mA max. and are available with 50 ohms impedance as standard.

IAG Series, Impedance Matches

An impedance matching module is used for measurement applications or for coupling modules with unequal impedance. The IAG-series works for the frequency range from 50 MHz to 2 GHz and will be delivered with N/N or BNC/BNC connectors as standard.

HLS8-5340-S1, RF Switch

The semiconductor switch HLS8-5340-S1 was developed for wear-free switching with very good crosstalk attenuation. Due to its high bandwidth of 3 MHz to 3000 MHz, the semiconductor switch is suitable for all applications in mobile radio as well as satellite communication (L-band). The relay HLS8-5340-S1 has 1 input and 8 outputs (others on request).

In addition, the SP8T switch has a very robust, nickel-plated aluminum housing and is equipped with SMA sockets.

Filter module / feedthrough filter

With the FIL-USB-3.1-A-MSB module, MTS Systemtechnik offers a new solution for the filtered transmission of USB signals in EMC shielded areas and shielding boxes. The module is designed for testing mobile phones, tablets or similar devices with high data rates. There is also no need to attach several components and lay fiber optic cables, as only one filter module has to be mounted on the chamber feed-through plate.

A FIL-USB-3.1-A-MSB with the dimensions 71 mm x 27.3 mm x 31 mm (LxWxH) is not only smaller than the competitors’ products, but it is also fully downward compatible to the older USB versions USB 2.0 and USB 1.0. The shielding is 80 dB min. up to 6 GHz. VBUS is also filtered in the module, but passed through without tap. Therefore 5V DC are required to supply the filter. The connections to the host and to the terminal device are of type A each.

PAH-4G/95-TTL, Programmable Attenuator

The programmable attenuator PAH-4G/95-TTL is designed for operations between 50 MHz and 4000 MHz (up to 6000 MHz on request). This digital attenuator is useable for telecom applications (e.g. GSM, DECT, UMTS, Bluetooth and all LTE frequency bands up to 4 GHz) as well as in the satellite communications (L-band) and for broadcast standards from FM.

In addition to a max. input power of +34 dBm this programmable attenuator has an excellent VSWR and low insertion loss at a low power consumption. The attenuation of this unit is adjustable continuously and without breaks from 0 to 95 dB in 0.25 / 0.5 dB steps.

The programmable attenuator can be used bidirectionally and due to the internal block capacitors no further DC voltage precautions are necessary at the RF paths.

By the way this low-loss attenuator got an RF shielded aluminium enclosure with small dimensions and is identically constructed as the attenuator PAH-8000/93-TTL.

Because of its controlling via TTL interface this bidirectional attenuator can be used very flexible and and can thereby be operated manually without software.

Another example of our numerous customised shielding boxes is the model MSB-0023 with 19 inch x 12 HU, which has been developed for the rack mounting. This rack is designed for the frequency range from 700 MHz to 4200 MHz and shields electromagnetic disturbances from the environment. Besides many standard interfaces the 19 inch shielding box has two fiber optic connections and one door interlock in addition.

MSB-0021, Shielding Box with Absorber / MSB-0022, Shielding Box with Absorber and Ferrite

Our shielding box MSB-0021-ABSORB is equipped with interior RF foam absorber material to achieve a greater shielding attenuation. Who needs an even better reflection selects the model MSB-0022-FERRIT which is equipped with additional ferrite absorbers.

Both shielding boxes are usable for frequencies between 700 MHz and 4200 MHz and are available from 500 MHz up to 6000 MHz on request.

For different purchaser we have alreday developed numerous types of our shielding boxes and we present you a small selection of this EMC enclosures at our homepage.

On request we are pleased to check, if an EMC box with your requirements has already been realised or if it could be modified according to your wishes. If there should be no suitable model, we develop and manufacture a shielding box with your specifications.

MSB-0200, Standard Shielding Box

Our standard shielding box MSB-0200 is usable for frequencies between 500 MHz and 6000 MHz. The compact and movable EMC screened ‘room’ is provided with two carrying handles and can be opened and closed by one-hand-mechanism. Furthermore the RF shielded box is equipped with different interfaces and a universal mobile phone attachment.

The delivery package of this EMC box contains one cover with built-in flexible wire mesh. Thereby the operation of the shielded housing can be done from the outside without opening the cover.

Shielding Box MSB-0035-5G, large

A larger variant of our EMC shielding housings is the model MSB-0035, which is very well suited for the frequency range from 700 MHz to 4200 MHz. Furthermore, the additional fully filtered USB 3.1 Gen 1 interface and the 10Gbit-LAN interface are a special feature of this HF box.

The stable construction of this movable screen box and the opening and closing by means of a one-hand mechanism are ideal for a high test volume.

KRE-4044-EFCI, Relay Switching Unit

Switching devices of KRE-4000 series are used in all fields of RF and EMC measurements and save the user extensive cabling.

Our relay switching unit KRE-4044-EFCI has a built-in IEEE-488 and RS-232 computer interface and switches different signals from 1 input to 12 outputs with it. The terminated SP12T relay Radiall R574403210 is front mounted and can be also switched via the integrated manual control.

SCF-0300 / SCF-0301-LAN, Standard Coupling Field

The standard coupling unit SCF-0300 / SCF-0301-LAN is available in the frequency range from 400 MHz upto 2900 MHz. It emulates the air interface between GSM/DCS/DCN/UMTS or DECT mobile devices and the belonging base stations. According to this the handover can be tested between the base stations in the laboratory. The emulation test systems has connections for 6 base stations and 3 mobile devices.The attenuation of each attenuator is adjustable from 0 dB upto 93 dB in 1 dB steps.

Damit ist es möglich Hand-Over oder Lastszenarien unter definierten Bedingungen zu erzeugen. Das Funkfeld-Testsystem bietet Anschlüsse für 6 Basisstationen und 3 Mobilgeräte. Die Dämpfung ist je Abschwächer von 0 dB bis 93 dB in 1 dB Schritten einstellbar.

The Air Interface Adapter AIAD-2/2/1xDL1+2/1 is usable for the frequency range from 700 MHz upto 2900 MHz. With this Air Interface Adapter 2 inputs will be coupled to 2 outputs through 93 dB attenuators. Besides further test connectors as well as an adjustable delay line are existing. The remote control of the Air Interface Emulator is possible via RS-232 and LAN.

DGL Series, Fixed Attenuators

In the series DGL we offer fixed attenuators combined with all saleable coaxial connectors (male or female). These coaxial attenuators are designed to meet specifications within a frequency range from DC to 1000 MHz and are available with standard attenuation values of 1 dB, 3 dB, 6 dB, 10 dB, 20 dB or 30 dB. Intermediate values or higher power, etc. are possible on request!
